Ideally, I would agree. But don’t start prancing around naked in front of people if you don’t want to be treated like a whore. I’m not justifying rape because anyone who rapes someone should be in prison and away from the rest of society. There’s an old saying: A nail sticking up gets hammered down. Don’t bring attention to yourself if you’re worried about your own safety. Common-fucking-sense.
“If you don’t want to be treated like a whore,” implying the acceptable and expected way “whores” are/should be treated is being raped. Implying victims who are raped are whores. Threatening women with “don’t act like a whore, or you might get raped, and it’s your fault.”
In other words, in order for victims to avoid getting raped, they “shouldn’t act like whores.”
“I’m not justifying rape, but…” never leads anywhere good. Welp. Someone missed the point of the message.
Plus the nail metaphor suggests that rape victims were somehow asking for it, which is bull.
